Student Interviews

I would like to gain the opportunity to research and develop "authentication", "digital signatures" and "encrypted communications" in my company through academic publications and obtaining a degree.

I wanted to review my own career and promote myself both inside/outside of the workplace

I joined the company and worked my way up from research in the laboratory to now being in charge of quality assurance for the guidance and control systems of flying vehicles. These transferable experiences led me to ask myself "How appealing am I in the field of information security research?". In order to prove my ability, I considered doing a PhD. I decided to enter this graduate school because of its good location close to both Yokohama station and my home. Also, I was interest in Professor Arita's "cryptography research based on computation theory".
My current research focuses on personal authentication, addressing a mathematical and secure framework for proving "identity". Our world could be different if we were able to use networks more securely, such as the resident registry network, shopping online, and cloud computing. As a professional who can research on the front lines of "authentication", "digital signatures" and "encrypted communications", I would like to be recognised for my abilities both within and outside the company, and to acquire the ability to obtain more advanced work.

I was attracted by the environment where I can discuss my research from various perspectives rather than being self-taught

The problem with self-education is that you have to evaluate ideas presented by the papers you read, and correct the possible errors in the arguments, by yourself. However, the advantage of postgraduate study is that you will be supervised by a professor who is familiar with your field, and can help you to carry out your research accurately. The discussions with mature students from various industries are also attractive. I think that the high level of discussion with these professors and fellow students is what sets IISEC apart from other graduate schools.
