There is no way to completely erase information that has been leaked. I am working on a new way of looking at the law that takes those risks into account.

I decided to continue on to the PhD programme as I became interested in information and law whilst on the Master's programme

I studied the feasibility of electronic voting from a legal perspective in my Master's degree. During that time, I wanted to study more about the handling of information in law, so I decided to enter the doctoral course. For example, if your notebook has been stolen, you can take legal action to get it back. However, for leaked information, there is currently no way to completely erase it. How can the current law address such information-specific risks? The verification of this is my research theme. In addition, even in the process of legally prohibiting information leakage, there are a number of issues, including the court proceedings are open to the public. From a different perspective, there remains the question of how to protect residents' information in municipalities that have been severely damaged by natural disasters. I feel that the time has come to seriously consider the law on information.

"Rich ideas, improving English skill,
Great networking opportunities

Professor Hayashi, the Principal of IISEC, has a corporate background. He has worked in the US and is a leading expert in legal research, including intellectual property rights. I have also received ideas from the perspective of UK and US law, which has been an important inspiration for my research. When I told him that I was struggling to read English, he gave me some tips on how to improve my English. "Read a lot, rather than looking up every word you don't understand." (Laugh)
The chance to learn directly from these people and to expand your network is the attraction of IISEC. We have a lot of mature students, and it's good to be able to listen to and study the opinions of professionals involved in security industry.
