Student Interviews

My aim is to create a next generation society, where security can be used as an infrastructure without any special awareness.

Faculty members and students with diverse backgrounds

I became interested in the field of information security when I heard topics such as vulnerabilities in personal computer OSs. I studied information technology at university, which is the basis of information security. I came to know this graduate school because I wanted to move into information security research properly after graduation. IISEC has only been open for a short time, so I visited their information briefings many times. Through the briefings, I learned that IISEC's faculty members come from a variety of backgrounds, from business professionals to researchers. I also heard that the current students are also from diverse backgrounds, including IT professionals, educational staff, and undergraduate graduates. I thought that in this environment, I could study information security in a broader scope than within the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Realistic lectures with discussions based on examples from work experience

The IISEC lectures are not just about reading books. In class, students discuss with their teachers the security issues they are facing in their work. A unique feature of IISEC is the opportunity to learn about problems and solutions based on real-life experience in the workplace. I would like to acquire knowledge in the humanities, such as management, and study information security not only in terms of technology, but also in terms of law and practical operation.

Research to support the foundations of a secure society

You can change your password easily. However, authentication using biometrics such as fingerprints cannot be easily changed, even though someone else finds out about it. How can we resolve such issues? I would like to conduct research that supports the foundations of creating a society where safety is so commonplace that we don't even think about "security".
