Student Interviews

Kazuki Fujisawa

I have been interested in information security since high school, and I feel happy to be able to study it to the fullest.

I developed my own software at university in order to go on to postgraduate studies in security

When I was in high school, I asked myself a question: "Why do I need anti-virus software on my computer?" This familiar question sparked my interest in information security. I studied telecommunications engineering at university, but in my 4th year I developed my own open source security management software as my graduation project. I have a strong desire to study information security professionally since then, which had led me to consider going to this graduate school.

The wide range of subjects and practical training required for security measures were the deciding factors for enrolling

IISEC is attractive because it offers a wide range of subjects such as law, ethics, cryptography, authentication, networks and systems. They also offer a number of practical exercises, such as "Secure Systems Exercises" and "Unauthorised Access Techniques." Although I myself am very technically oriented, I felt that the fields involved in information security are so broad that it would be difficult to protect them without expanding my knowledge. I also think that having the opportunity to experience it for myself will help me to understand it better than just learning the theory.

Based on security measures for virtualisation technology
I want to work for a security vendor in the future

My current interest is in security measures for virtualisation technology, which is receiving great attention these days. I don't think this can be protected by existing technology alone, so I would like to conduct research to explore the specific problems and their solutions. After completing the course, I would like to gain practical experience and apply what I have learnt for a security vendor.
