Student Interviews

Shunsuke Matsukura

I am studying to become an engineer involved in network construction, whilst making use of my previous social experience.

I quit my unfulfilling job and started a new challenge at IISEC

In my former company, I was responsible for the management and operation of the factory's production facilities. Even if I thought "Wouldn't it be more efficient and cheaper to connect the equipment over the network?", my lack of knowledge and the importance of existing systems prevented this from happening. However, as I continued to study on my own, I became more and more interested in learning about network technology, which I had been interested in since university, and I decided to enter IISEC.

Your work experience adds depth to what you learn

I chose IISEC because I believe that networks and information security are inseparable today. There are a lot of mature students and everyone is serious, which makes me feel more serious about my studies. Also, I am very happy that here I can study subjects that I really want to study, such as "Internet Technology". Of course, I don't think that working for a company was a waste of time. When I learned to build a network in the lab, I could refer to my work experience.

I now see a clearer image of "the kind of work I want to do", which I didn't see when I was at university

Working for a company has given me a better understanding of the situation in the workplace and a clearer picture of "the kind of work I want to do", which I didn't see when I was at university. In the future I would like to acquire the knowledge to work on more upstream processes, such as network construction.
