Researching the security requirements of future power control.

My view on information security has changed

As I work on the company's communications network, I tend to focus on the technical side of security. However, through the lectures at IISEC, I realised that law, psychology and other "human-related" areas are also important for security. As well as technical measures, I have come to feel that we also need to strengthen the people-related aspects of our business.

Information security for smart electricity use

My current research focuses on the security of future power control. Of course, we are taking the necessary security measures for the control of the power system, both physically and on the communication network. However, as the scope of control expands further, information security management will become a major issue. If it becomes required to monitor the electricity usage status of each user in the future, which is necessary for efficient control, the handling of information will be more sensitive. Since the situation is still unknown, I would like to take advantage of the interactions at IISEC and ISS square workshops to study the requirements with reference to the information security measures taken by other companies.

Review my own work from a third party perspective

As well as gaining specialist knowledge of information security, I was exposed to a wide range of perspectives through interaction with students from a variety of companies and faculty members with a wealth of corporate experience. It gave me a chance to look at everything from a third party perspective, even if it was common knowledge within the company. Some of the new knowledge I have learned here has been very useful, for example when determining a software requirement at work.
