Student Interviews

I want to combine my development skill and work experience into a systematic discipline that bridges open source and academia.

I want to test the knowledge I have gained from the open source world in an academic setting

The feature of "TOMOYO Linux" that I am currently working on is that it can learn the access settings. Access settings are an important part of the system's operation. Recently, this OS has also become known abroad. There is a surprising lack of interaction and contact between the open source world and the academic communities, even on the same security topic. I enrolled in the PhD programme to systematically reorganise the knowledge I had gained in the open source world and to broaden my horizons in the academic communities. It's only been a few months, but I'm very excited to be a student again. I am looking forward to experiencing a student life and interacting with the faculty members and fellow students.

There is no need to come to IISEC if you only want to use "TOMOYO Linux"

You do not necessarily need to come to the graduate school if you just want to deepen your previous experiences. I joined Professor Itakura's research lab at IISEC. This lab covers a wide range of research topics, including biometric authentication techniques and the relationship between management and security control. Inter-laboratory exchange and research collaboration is also very active at IISEC. Based on "TOMOYO Linux" and my past initiatives, I would like to create new value for the future.

Can we link the two worlds together to create results that go beyond "split losses"?

In order to spend time as a student, I need to reduce the amount of time I work in the company. There is also a "split loss" which includes the time taken to travel. I want to make the best use of my limited time, while connecting the different world to my own and gaining value from them. This is a challenge for me as a mature student with a job.
